Twin Rivers Council Welcomes Mark Switzer As New Scout Executive

The Twin Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America, is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Scout Executive, Mark Switzer, who assumed the position on January 16, 2018.

The Scout Executive is responsible for the daily operations of the Twin Rivers Council and works closely with volunteers, families, donors, area businesses and the local community to grow and support Scouting programs in our area.

A New York native and graduate of Plattsburgh State University, Mark has served as the Scout Executive for the Western Colorado Council -- a large council territory with some similar geographic challenges to ours -- since 2012. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Field Services in the Golden Empire Council in Sacramento, California, and has held professional Scouting positions in Seattle, WA, Providence, RI, and Wilmington, DE.

“Mark comes to us with outstanding credentials and an impressive skill set, he will be an excellent fit for our Council, and I am excited to begin working with him to continue to move Scouting forward in upstate New York” says Council President Rick Weerts.

Mark is married to an engaged and supportive Scouter, Laura Switzer. He has two daughters, Ellie who is nine and Harley who is 12. Mark is engaged in his Church, and is an active Rotarian. In his personal time, he enjoys classic car restoration, golf, and spending time with family and friends.

Once Mark and his family are settled in the area, the Council plans to announce details for a welcome reception.
