Family Scouting Coming To Twin Rivers Council

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America has been the guiding principle in the delivery of our programs to countless youth over the years as we prepare them to live the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Over the past year, the BSA has made steps to expand the scope of our work to include each member of the family and here in Twin Rivers Council we are proud to be a part of this exciting and historic time.

Starting this Spring, the leadership of Twin Rivers Council has opted to participate in the “Early Adopter Program” offered by the National Council. This program will provide the resources to Charter Partners who wish to open their membership to females of Cub Scout age.

For our Council, the official registration for girls of Cub Scout age will begin immediately following an agreement between a Pack’s Chartering Organization and their District Executive.  To meet program timelines, all new applications will be processed by April 2, 2018. If there is interest in registering girls in a local Cub Scout Pack, Charter Partners should contact their District Executive for details.  If you are uncertain of those contacts, you can reach out by emailing the Council at

As part of your decision process, please refer to several resources found at Link. Here you can find information that includes:

·         An Overview of, and facts, about Family Scouting

·         A CubCast called, “What Does the Family Program Look Like”

·         Infographics

·         Frequently Asked Questions

·         Program Requirements

·         A Video called, “Family Program for Unit Leadership”

As this time approaches us, the lead volunteers of Twin Rivers Council are ensuring we are “ready to go”. Our programs, which include Day and Resident Camps, are being reviewed, camping facilities are being evaluated; and volunteers and staff are gearing up to support units in their goals.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns that you would like to address directly to us, please feel free to email us at

By expanding the program to include more youth, and extending the reach of our promise to more families, you can be confident in knowing that our mission and Scouting’s time-tested, proven programs remain unchanged. We will deliver a program that will provide opportunities for all youth to excel, and perhaps someday earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

Yours in Scouting,
