2017 Scout Retreat at Auriesville Shrine

2017 Scout Retreat at Auriesville Shrine

In a tradition dating back 67 years, Catholic Scouts from around the Diocese gather at the sacred and scenic Auriesville Shrine. This year’s retreat is scheduled for June 10, 2017.

The retreat begins at 9AM on Saturday the 10th.  Saturday’s events include talks by the Retreat Master, small group activities and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Scouts are invited to visit the Ravine to meditate on the martyrdom of St. Isaac Jogues and his companions.

The highlight of the weekend is Mass celebrated by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger at 7:15. During Mass, the Bishop presents various religious awards earned by Scouts and Scouters. We invite the families of those receiving awards to attend Mass with their youth.

Non-Catholic Units and Scouts are welcome to accompany their Catholic members

Optional camping will be available on the grounds Friday June 9th – Sunday June 11.  Webelos dens may camp with a Troop or individually provided each scout is accompanied by a parent or guardian

Retreat is open to all Scout unit types- BSA, Girl Scouts, Campfire, and American Heritage.  They may register as units or individual scouts may attend on a lone scout basis.  All units and individuals attending must follow the youth protection and camping guidelines of their particular organization and level.

This event is being held at a national shrine so unit may be eligible for the Historical Trails Award.
