Summer Trekking Programs

Scouting offers a special opportunity to those that are willing to grab the brass ring and run.  Taking a Trek is where you can use all those skills that you have worked on and put them to use and see what it really is like to hike for a couple of days with everything on your back or to canoe into the wilderness of the Adirondacks and see what life was like 200 years ago.  Nature is special and Trekking allows you to truly see and experience the back country.

Camp Wakpominee & Rotary Scout Reservation offer three kinds of Trekking Programs:

  • 3rd Year Trek - This is a program designed for older Scouts that are attending summer camp with their Troop to go off and experience a backpacking trek.
    (4 Scout minimum)

  • 4th Year Trek - This program is also designed for older Scouts that are attending summer camp and want to do a full week canoe trek.
    (4 Scout minimum)

  • Unit Trekking - This is where a Troop or Crew can sign up to go on a trek as a group.  You pick who goes, we provide the Voyageur, food, and crew equipment.  You pick one of the itineraries or work with your Voyageur to create your own.  This is a great way to tune up for Philmont or a Northern Tier experience.

(If you are attending Rotary Scout Reservation, you can sign up to take a Trek.  We will provide the transportation from Rotary to Wakpominee and back.)
